Edwiser Bridge Solutions
Implementation and customisation of the essential connector between your WordPress front end and your Moodle LMS.
Edwiser Bridge is the connector that links a WordPress website to a Moodle Learning Management System. It suits organisations that want a strong marketing and sales front end on WordPress — course listings, store pages, content — while Moodle handles teaching, tracking and delivery in the background. We implement and customise Edwiser Bridge integration so the two platforms behave as one product rather than as two systems that happen to share a login.
The bridge matters most at the join between selling and learning. A learner should be able to find a course on your WordPress site, buy it, and land inside the right Moodle course with the right account and access, without staff stepping in. The same connection keeps users and courses consistent on both sides, which removes the manual administration that otherwise grows with your catalogue.
We have extensive experience implementing and customising Edwiser Bridge and its extensions. That covers the initial setup, the migration of an existing installation, and the ongoing maintenance the connector needs to survive Moodle and WordPress updates. Where the work touches the wider platform, it is covered by our WordPress integration and Moodle integration services.
What Edwiser Bridge does
At the core of the plugin is a stable, bi-directional link between WordPress and Moodle. Data moves in both directions rather than in a single push, so the two systems stay aligned as users and courses change.
- User and course synchronisation. Accounts and course data are kept consistent across both platforms, so a change on one side is reflected on the other.
- Automated registration. A learner account can be created in Moodle from a WordPress action, without an administrator repeating the process by hand.
- Automated enrolment. Enrolment is triggered by events on the WordPress side, from a purchase to a form submission, depending on your flow.
Because the link is bi-directional, you do not end up with a WordPress user list that disagrees with the Moodle one, or with courses that exist in Moodle but are invisible to the store. If you are new to the LMS side entirely, our guide to what an LMS is explains the underlying model.
Automated enrolment via WooCommerce
Edwiser Bridge is most often used to sell Moodle courses through a WordPress and WooCommerce store. We pair the two so that fulfilment is automatic end to end: a completed purchase creates the Moodle account if it does not exist, then enrols the learner in the matching course.
This Edwiser Bridge and WooCommerce pairing removes the manual step that otherwise sits between payment and access. It also means access can follow the commercial rules you set on the store, such as course bundles, renewals and expiry. On the store side we build the wider funnel — product pages, checkout, payment gateways and subscriptions — through our WooCommerce service, and hand delivery to the bridge.
User synchronisation and single sign-on
For a seamless experience, login, registration and user management are synchronised between WordPress and Moodle. In practice this usually means configuring a Single Sign-On (SSO) solution so that learners move between the site and the course environment without logging in twice.
Moodle WordPress SSO is where most of the subtlety lives. We configure authentication so a learner who signs in on WordPress arrives in Moodle already authenticated, with the right role and access, and so that logout, password resets and profile changes behave consistently on both sides. We also make sure an administrator account cannot drift out of sync in a way that locks people out after an update.
Setup, migration and maintenance
Edwiser Bridge needs care after installation as much as during it. Moodle and WordPress both release updates, and the connector and its extensions have to keep pace with them. We handle the full lifecycle:
- Setup. A fresh configuration tuned to your sales flow, course structure and enrolment rules.
- Migration and upgrade. Auditing an existing installation, resolving compatibility issues and bringing the bridge up to date with current Moodle and WordPress versions.
- Maintenance. Ongoing management of the connector and its extensions so the bridge between e-commerce and e-learning keeps running smoothly.
Frequently asked questions
What does Edwiser Bridge do?
It connects WordPress and Moodle, synchronising users and courses and allowing online sales to trigger automatic Moodle enrolment.
Can you migrate or upgrade an existing Edwiser Bridge setup?
Yes. We audit the current configuration, resolve compatibility issues and bring the bridge up to date with current Moodle and WordPress versions.
Does Edwiser Bridge support single sign-on?
Yes. We configure Moodle WordPress SSO so users can move between WordPress and Moodle without logging in twice.
How do you keep WordPress and Moodle in sync after updates?
We test the connector against each new Moodle and WordPress release, resolve conflicts in the extensions and re-verify that users, courses and enrolment still match on both sides. Regular maintenance means [[NEED: maintenance cadence / support terms]].
